IDENTIFY YOUR XBOX 360 DVD DRIVE
|
Do you have a HDMI port at the back of the console?

If you don't have this port then your console has either a Toshiba Samsung drive, or an earlier Hitachi drive.
This means your console is $60 to upgrade the firmware on.
NOTE: This is not necessarily true if your console has been repaired, your dvd drive may have been swapped.
If you have a HDMI port, eject your dvd drive tray.
You will have one of the following two drives. Either a BenQ or a Hitachi. If you have the BenQ, it is $60 to mod your console, if you have the Hitachi, it is
$110 now only $60 also.
Please note: there is a new drive that has the same tray as a BenQ, it is a Liteon drive, and currently can't be modded. If the box your console came in has a
lot no. greater than 817, then it most likely has the Liteon drive. To confirm, you can pull the faceplate off, and on the right side of the dvd drive, there
is an oval hole, if there is 2 yellow wires then it is a Liteon, if the wires are white then it is a BenQ.
